Team 1 brought a plethora of shooting and skill to the camp. Look for most of the ladies to have bright futures on the hardwood during the travel season and into high school. Photo cred – Larry Rhinehart
Cleveland, Tennessee – It is imperative for players to find opportunities to train and get better in the off-season. Finding weekends where players can travel and get out of their comfort zone can pay dividends in the future. The last weekend in February gave middle school players a chance to compete and gain valuable exposure before the travel basketball season kicks off in March. Here is a look is at the players from Team 1.

There was no shortage of perimeter skill in this group. Class of 2021 combo guard Campbell Penland proved that she could hit the reversal jumper while also being an effective facilitator. Her combination of size and shooting range should equal plenty of success in the future. Mattie Buck, just a seventh grader, proved that she is a good play-maker. She has great instincts at a young age and finds ways to involve her teammates with the pass. Class of 2021 guard Kiley Collins of Greeneville, Tennessee, showed that the game is more than just about offense. She showed great defensive footwork and grabbed rebounds in traffic. Her offensive skill was not far behind as she hit open jumpers and handled the ball in traffic.
Shayla Wood of Kingston, Tennessee, showed her aggressiveness as a slasher. She scored numerous buckets off the dribble even while taking contact from opposing defenders. Class of 2021 wing Tesa McGaha of Cosby, Tennessee, might have been the most versatile player in this group. She is an aggressive defender and gets rebounds around the basket. She also proved that she can score the ball with mid-range jumpers. Emma Huskey of Sevierville, Tennessee, is a post player who uses her strength to her advantage. She posts up aggressively while doing a great job of rebounding.
Class of 2021 guard Alexis Patty earned plenty of attention during the month of February. One weekend before she was tabbed a standout performer at the EBA Fab 5 Middle School Camp (Read Recap Here). She backed up that reputation with another solid camp in Cleveland. Her specialty is to hit long range jumpers, but she proved that she has a diverse skill set that allows her to impact the game in a number of ways.
Alexis Patty is a @imdashow4 favorite today. Can get to the basket, hit the midrange, and even has a perimeter game. @CoachHemi pic.twitter.com/KntkFyNKxT
