Team 3 featured several new names to our staff. Class of 2018 guard Ja’Rae Smith of South Carolina slashed and scored buckets in game play. Another junior guard who made a good impression was Imari Gray who made the drive from Brandon, Mississippi. She is a good athlete who slashed through the defense.
A couple familiar faces showed up in a big way as well. Class of 2018 post Macey Carson of St. Pius X is a great interior player. Once again she scored well around the bucket and rebounded in her area. Class of 2018 guard Hannah Dunston of Archer HS earned a reputation as a sharp shooter while player with the Georgia Hoopstars on the travel circuit. She backed up that reputation with multiple makes in drills and in competition.
Class of 2020 guard Morgan Blakely of Harlan County HS (KY) came ready to work on Saturday morning. We expect bigger things from her in years to come. Class of 2021 wing Carly Heidger of Hebron Christian Academy showed intriguing skill. Standing at 5-11 she has size, length and perimeter skill. We will have an eye on her development.
