AL vs NE 1Coach Kristi Curry and her staff have worked hard to gain momentum heading into SEC play. This past Sunday, December 7th, they picked up a signature win over a Nebraska who was ranked No. 12 in the country. The Crimson Tide have had to count on big play from underclassmen, which includes freshman guard Hannah Cook.

In this game, Cook delivered the shot of the night as she hit a last second three pointer at the buzzer before halftime to give her team a five point lead and important momentum heading into the locker room.

CoachHemi.com MEMBERS can view the last second set that coach Curry drew up to get Cook her shot below:

[private]

1. Hannah Cook started in the 3 spot while Karyla Middlebrook, the point guard, dribbled hard to the right wing. The 4 player who threw the ball in the back court trailed the play

2. The key here is the get a solid screen by 5 and hard cut to get the first pass completed to 2.  Without that, the timing is messed up and Cook will never see the ball.

3. 2 has the ball and now the trailing 4 player comes to set a double stagger, with 5, for Cook who has changed sides of the court. She makes a hard cut and launches the 3 at the buzzer.

Coach Hemi Addition….

If you watch the tape, 4 would be open on the 2nd cut if there was more time. If you have a 4 player who can screen and pop (obviously not in short seconds), this becomes another option when you run it for your team. 5 as well, can seal hard in the paint if x5 has jumped hard to the ball.
