Coach MaChelle Joseph enters her 11th season as head coach at Georgia Tech. Her overall record of 213-134 gives her the highest winning percentage in program history. Last season she led the Yellow Jackets to their seventh 20 win season during her tenure as coach. Joseph’s no-nonsense style on the court and commitment to defense has got her team to the NCAA Tournament seven times in her time.

Though I took pages of notes on their practice regarding drills, technique and plays – here are the most important ideas that I took away from the practice:
1. You must have a Teaching Progression – teach in segments
2. Provide breakdown drills to teach small concepts, which will be reinforced in 5/5 action
3. Make drills Game-Like
4. Teach the details without Flooding the player with minutia

One of the last things that assistant coach Michael Wholey shared with me was shooting drills that their program has used in the preseason. Interestingly Georgia Tech uses these drills in competition with other programs across the nation. You can visit the website where the scores are recorded and shared – SHOOTING MANIA

Here are the PDF’s of the shooting drills that you can view for your program:
